Due to an internal promotion, we have an exciting opportunity for a financial analyst with strong communication and analytical skills. This is your chance to work for the leading daily newspaper for Southland, Southern Lakes District and Central Otago.

As financial analyst, you will assist the management accountant in preparing, reviewing and developing various divisional reports, month end, budgets and forecasts.

To be successful, you will have proven experience in developing and maintaining reports from a variety of financial information systems and have the capability to analyse, interpret and report data and trends in a way that is meaningful to others. Highly developed Excel and Visual Basic skills are an absolute must.

You will work closely with other staff to identify core information needs and enable effective reporting facilities to be introduced and maintained. As a result you will possess the ability to build effective relationships across the business and operate effectively as part of a team.
Ideally you will have, or be working towards a tertiary qualification with a background in finance.

Payroll Administrator [6 months fixed term]

We are looking for an experienced payroll administrator to work within and assist a small team, based in Eden Terrace.

Your core responsibilities will be to support the payrolls within Fairfax Media and all activities associated with that; including processing new employees and terminations, administering employee master files and inputting timesheets, leave forms and commissions. 

With a strong focus on assisting the other two members of the team, you will also be responsible for filing, distribution of timesheets and payslips, sorting inward mail and handling general enquiries when required.

The Newspaper Sales department at Taranaki Daily News maintains the overall standard of excellence required in order to distribute and promote the Taranaki Daily News to home subscribers and retail agents.  The Taranaki Daily News continues to be the best media option in Taranaki boasting 55,000 average daily readers.

The Newspaper Sales department is looking for an administrative genius who can coordinate and manage our deliverers.  Tasks include induction paperwork, liaison with parents/guardians, scheduling of leave, management of sick leave, coordination with our Newspaper Sales Support person for delivery runs and H&S issues as well as liaison with Finance on attendance and payroll issues. Part of the induction process would involve meeting with the deliverer and parents/guardians in order to complete the induction and get paper work signed off.

The successful applicant will work under the day to day direction of the Newspaper Sales and Marketing Manager but will work with the Newspaper Sales team and other customer service related departments.  A collaborative approach to ensure effective team work and meaningful communication is required.

This is a 22.5 hour a week part time position based at our New Plymouth office working 2pm to 6.30pm Monday to Friday. Capacity to work outside of these hours during the day on an ‘ad hoc’ basis would be helpful. Remuneration will be commensurate with the position and experience.  A valid driver's licence for a manual vehicle is required.
